Andy Roddick's quest for his first Wimbledon title continues tomorrow morning as he faces Spain's Feliciano Lopez in the third round of play. The pair, which are meeting for the eighth time, are scheduled to take the court at approximately 7:00 AM ET on Friday. Sports Betting Odds are favoring Roddick at -350 moneyline odds to win the match and advance to a fourth round meeting with either Gael Monfils or Lukasz Kubot.
While Andy Roddick's one
Grand Slam title came at the U.S. Open, it could be argued that his best major is Wimbledon. Roddick has played in the finals at Wimbledon three times and he has reached the quarterfinals or better at the event four times in the last seven years.
The American could be headed there again if he continues playing as he has in the first two rounds. There have been some bumps for Roddick, most notably in his opening match with German Andreas Beck, but he has won in straight sets thus far.
Roddick's latest victim was Romanian Victor Hanescu, who fell 4-6, 3-6, 4-6 to the Omaha native on Wednesday. Roddick produced 15 aces and 39 winners in 112 minute match.
Feliciano Lopez knows Roddick well having played him on seven other occasions, including a meeting at the AEGON Championships in London earlier this month. Lopez, who dispatched Rainer Schuettler 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the third round at Wimbledon for a second consecutive year, lost that match to Roddick 7-6, 6-7, 6-4.
Lopez, in fact, has never beaten the 28 year old, but he has made things tough on Roddick a time or two. Prior to their meeting at the Queen's Club, Lopez and Roddick engaged in a 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 battle at the 2010 Australian Open.
Wimbledon 2011 Odds Andy Roddick vs Feliciano Lopez Predictions:
Andy Roddick -350
Feliciano Lopez +225
