Rafael Nadal vs Philipp Petzschner 2010 Wimbledon Odds: Rafael Nadal [-2000 ML] may have missed his chance to meet the Queen, but was able to get the win at his Wimbledon second round match. He now moves on to the third round where he will face sports betting odds underdog, Philipp Petzschner [+800 ML]. He may have seem like a snub, but if anyone knows Rafael Nadal’s style is that he has a routine. Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to the All England Club since 1977.
She had the pleasure of meeting former and current players including the Williams sisters and Roger Federer. Nadal did get an invitation to the meeting, but had something else in mind: winning.
"I am playing in Wimbledon. It's not a joke. I love this tournament," Nadal said. "I have a lot of respect for the queen. I have a lot of respect for this tournament. Today is a match day for me, no? So I have my things to do."
Turns out his practice schedule coincided with the invitation time, and he chose to put in some work. It may have been a good thing, as Nadal had to play a pretty tough match against Holland’s Robin Haase. He fell behind two sets to one early on, but managed to come away with the 5-7, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 win.
Haase proved to be dangerous on grass, and had fans wondering if this could be an upset. But Nadal recovered and regained his composure. Using his groundstrokes and moving swiftly all over the court, the Spaniard was back in business.
"Mentally I think I was perfect in the fourth and in the fifth sets," Nadal said.
