Novak Djokovic reached the semifinals at Wimbledon for a third time with his Wednesday quarterfinals triumph. Now he will vye for his first finals appearance at the All England Club as he faces the red hot Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Centre Court later this morning. Novak Djokovic needed four 
sets for the second time at the 2011 Wimbledon Championships as he bested Australian teenager Bernard Tomic 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 in Wednesday's quarterfinal.
Djokovic hit four fewer winners than Tomic in the match, but he also committed 14 fewer unforced errors. The 24 year old, who is set to inherit the ATP's top ranking should he beat Tsonga, produced 14 aces in the victory while scoring wins of 54 of his 69 first serve opportunities.
Djokovic's win setup an eighth career meeting with the 26 year old Tsonga. Surprisingly, the Frenchman holds a 5-2 advantage in the pair's previous seven meetings. That fact has the Serb anticipating a tightly contested affair this morning.
"He is very dangerous," Djokovic said. "He had an amazing comeback against Federer, he served well and played well, and he's been playing great in the grass court season so far. I expect a very, very even match."
Tsonga, as Djokovic indicated, scored a stunning five set win over Federer after dropping the first two sets 3-6, 6-7. Tsonga won the final three frames in 6-4 fashion after his serve rounded into unbreakable form.
Tsonga and Djokovic, which have never faced each other on a grass surface, are 1-1 opposite one another in Grand Slam play. Djokovic beat Tsonga 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 in the finals of the 2008 Australian Open; however, he lost to the Le Mans native 6-7, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 1-6 in the quaterfinals of the 2010 Aussie Open. That match served as the most recent showdown between the two.
